Porth’Kovrek a’gas dynnargh

Welcome to Coverack

Steeped in Cornish history and sheltered from the winds that blow off the Atlantic, Coverack is a picturesque Cornish fishing village, situated on the east side of the stunning Lizard peninsula in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The name Coverack is derived from the Cornish Porth’Kovrek meaning cove of the stream.

  • Historic Harbour

Coverack’s historic harbour was constructed in 1724 to accommodate the growing pilchard fleet and became the centre for pilchard processing on this side of the Lizard. It is a working harbour to this day and you can still see the fishing boats going out to sea in search of mackerel….

  • Coverack Village

Situated a short walk from the hotel, Coverack’s pretty village is centred around it’s harbour with some of the old fishing cottages still retaining their thatched roofs. The village has a church, a couple of gift shops, a pub and cafes all with views across the water.

  • Coverack Bay

Coverack Bay is a stunning, crescent shaped tidal beach with sparkling aquamarine waters and fishing boats bobbing in the distance.
