EST. 1928

The Bay hotel was built in 1928 by local farmer William Pengelly Richards and remained within the family for over 50 years. Visitors from far and wide have sought out its charms for relaxing summer holidays and weekend getaways, and with its prime location it has long been a mainstay of village life.

Following the dramatic flash floods of 2017 which made the national headlines for their catastrophic effect on the village, a structural refurbishment and interior redesign was carried out.

The current owner purchased the hotel in 2015. His longstanding relationship with The Bay was started when his parents honeymooned there in the 1950s. Like so many families, they brought their children back year on year to enjoy the blissful seaside environment.

Our general manager Caroline Beadle is creating a fresh vision for the hotel while preserving the innate sense of tradition and timelessness that comes with its unique setting and Cornish heritage.
